The historians affirm that the ("Criollo") native circus was the first spectacle that put in play something of the South American identity, for being first that stopped imitating the arts originating from Europe. It is characterized for having two parts, the first one of abilities and the second of action (the native drama).
History of the "Criollo" circus
In 1840 it was born Sebastián Suarez aboard a ship in Brazilian jurisdiction, although he would be written down in Buenos Aires. Being a boy saw the Olympic Circus of Juan Lippolis, and that encounter carries he to look for materials as burlap bags, wiht them he disarmed and assembled again extended to make his first tent. Canes, alfajías and several woods, help him for the frame, the silverplates and the rotation. But the problem of the illumination was a concern to him. Their financial crisis prevents to obtain lamps or candles, so with containers, bottles and flasks of pharmacy, fat as fuel and fabric threads and pieces make the oil lamps; many collaborated with him, still his father who provides the painting to him. In each circus presentation of the zone Sebastián Suárez he learn tricks and techniques; everything seems to march, inclusively the face is painted and he used eccentric clothes and it becomes Tony. And at the entrance a poster that says: "Circus Flor America". Thus it is born the first native circus, to which then Alejandro Rivero (son in law of Sebastián Suarez) baptizes Circus Union and then the Circus of the 7 Brothers. Other historians think that the native circus is born April 1, 1886 when the brothers José Antonio (Pepe) and Gerónimo Podestá play the work of Eduardo Gutiérrez the "Juan Moreira", in Chivilcoy, (Province of Buenos Aires). With The Podestá the musical air were diffused enormously. Brought itself to light the Pericón in replacement of the folk Cat. Great quantity of dances are divulged and much is used the gauchesco subject. They managed to make know traditional musical rhythms all over the Argentinian territory, rescuing to many of them of the forgetfulness.
